Formed in Somerset, England by Joseph Porter and Curtis Youé, both formerly of The Mob, and Porter began in Zounds. The songs focus on historical figures, war and mythology. The name, Blyth Power is originates from the name of a locomotive engine (Porter is reportedly a trainspotter). Porter remains the only founding member over various lineup changes and is still active with the band as of 2025.
