(aka Beyond the Darkness)
Released: November 15, 1979 (Italy)

Taxidermist heartthrob manboy wealthy orphan what a (combination!) Frank Wyler loses his girlfriend to the black magic plotting of his once and current homicidal nursemaid Iris. Her plan fails initially, as Frank (played by Turkish-American Kieran Canter, later known for his roles in exploitation erotica films) thanks to his skills, “death has no power to separate” him and his love (played by Cinzia Monreale, who would play Emily in Lucio Fulci’s ‘The Beyond’) with formaldehyde, stuffing, needle and thread.
Despite the success of his grave-robbed love trophy, he continues to search out a live blooded replacement- but the blood (and gore) manifest again and again onscreen in ever more brilliant ways thanks to celebrated sleaze director Joe D’Amato. At the expense of credulity and suspense, the shock tactics continue to mount with increasing depravity, accentuated by a soundtrack from progressive synth band Goblin, making Beyond The Darkness one of the most over the top slasher films in the genre, not to be missed by aficionados of transgressive and low budget horror films.
“A disturbed young taxidermist exhumes his recently-deceased girlfriend, takes her body to his family villa, and embalms her corpse with help from his strange housekeeper. But his bouts of insanity are just beginning.” [IMDb]
