Location: Berlin
Active: 1981

Formed spontaneously in Berlin in 1981 by Mark Reeder and Alistair Gray in order to perform the Konzert Zur Einheit Der Nation at the iconic SO36 (see Killing Joke). Their self-titled 12” was released later that year. ‘Radio War’ was about the competing political broadcasts in the divided city of Berlin between Cold War Russia and United States radio.
The documentary film ‘B-Movie (Lust & Sound in West-Berlin)’ is about Reeder’s time in Berlin and Die Unbekannten with an excellent soundtrack.
Mark Reeder also contributed to the score for Jorg Buttgereit’s 1987 ‘Nekromantik’. Together with Alistair they rebranded as Shark Vegas and continued with the support of New Order and Factory Records. Thomas Wydler joined Die Haut and Nick Cave’s Bad Seeds.
