Richard Strange
Richard Strange’s first band was Doctors of Madness, formed in 1975, recording three influential but non-commercial albums. The band was supported by the Sex Pistols, The Jam and Joy Division. He disbanded the band in 1978, after Dave Vanian of The Damned briefly joined him on vocals.

Wendy O. Williams
At the forefront of the New York punk heavy metal band The Plasmatics was lead singer and female rock icon, the legendary Wendy O. Williams. Born May 28, 1949 – † April 6, 1998 she left home at an early age, eventually landing in New York City in 1976 where she joined The Plasmatics, a concept group of Rod Swenson. They were among the groups in the scene rising around CBGBs along with The Dead Boys, The Cramps and others. After several year’s career and problematic record deals, the Plasmatics split up in the 1980s.
Wendy O. released solo material under WOW, recording with artists like KISS and Lemmy from Motörhead, and starred in films like Reform School Girls and some television shows. Throughout her life she continually confronted issues like sexism in the music industry, promoted healthy eating and anti-drugs/smoking, eventually abstinence from alcohol as well. Towards the end of her life she lived in Connecticut with her long time companion and manager Rod Swenson, dedicating her life to healthy living and animal rescue and rehabilitation. In 1998 she took her own life.

Texacala Jones
Linda “Texacala” Jones was lead singer of Tex & The Horseheads, and one of the bands credited with kicking off the punk subgenre of ‘cowpunk’. Her iconic style and persona has been an influence on goths, punks, and countless genres of alternative styles. She has appeared in films like the cult Dr. Caligari and Border Radio and a collaborator with Jeffrey Lee Pierce of The Gun Club, performing backing vocals on their Death Party EP.

Brian James
(* 18 February 1955 – † 6 March 2025) was an English punk rock guitarist, best known for being a founding member of The Damned as well as of The Lords of the New Church.
Early bands included Bastard and London SS prior to The Damned, whom he contributed to their first two albums before leaving the band in 1977. Tanz Der Youth was another of his bands, after departing from The Damned, as well as several solo projects and playing with Iggy Pop on tour in 1979.
He would team up with The Damned in 1988 and again in 2022. He released a solo album The Guitar That Dripped Blood in 2015 which features guest appearances from Cheetah Chrome of The Dead Boys.

Annie Anxiety

Stiv Bators
Iconic frontman of both The Dead Boys and The Lords of the New Church, Stiv Bators grew up in Youngstown, Ohio, born Steven John Bator (*October 22, 1949 – †June 4, 1990). His first forays into the world of music was in proto punk bands like Rocket From The Tombs and Frankenstein, along with future members of what would evolve into The Dead Boys, who would move on to the New York punk movement forming around bands like Television, The Ramones and fellow Ohioans, The Cramps.
After the Dead boys came to an end in 1979 during the recording of their second album, Stiv Bator recorded as a solo artist in Los Angeles for Bomp! Records. Eventually he would relocate to London to work with David Tregunna of Sham 69 as The Wanderers, but meanwhile forming a musical relationship with Brian James of The Damned, a project which would come to be known as The Lords of the New Church.
He appeared in the films Polyester (directed by John Waters, 1981) and Tapeheads (1988) and is the subject of a documentary film Stiv: No Compromise, No Regrets (2019). He is portrayed in the movie CBGB (2013) by Justin Bartha, about the rise of the iconic New York venue and centers largely around the antics of The Dead Boys.
In 1990, Stiv Bators died in his home in Paris after sustaining an injury being struck by a car. Not believing he was seriously injured, he died in his sleep. He was 40 years old. His ashes were scattered over the grave of Jim Morrison, as well as according to some statements, snorted by a select group of friends.Links:
