After singer Simon Denbigh left March Violets in the wake of their more pop-commercial pursuits, he snagged Skeletal Family drummer Martin “Bomber” Pink. The Batfish Boys emerged as a garage rock/psychedelia infused rock band that still hadn’t let go of their gothic moorings, for an interesting mix of Cramps meets Stooges versus The Cult. For the first EP ‘Swamp Liquor’ in 1985, the other March Violets members were also aboard. As they progressed, they focused more on their biker rock leanings, bringing them in sync with an emerging genre known as grebo, and they became simply ‘Batfish’. In 2007, March Violets reformed.
