Location: Birmingham, UK
Active: 1981 – 1993

Formed by brothers Des,James, and Mark Morris. Attending the Futurama Festival in Bingley Hall, Stafford in 1981 (The Sound, 23 Skidoo, UK Decay, Virgin Prunes, The Passions, Section 25, Theatre of Hate and over a dozen more over two days), they looked to Southern Death Cult, Theatre Of Hate and the wave of postpunk and gothic bands rising out of that time.
Their first 12”s were released as a debut album ‘Sun Family’ in 1986, with ‘The Greatest Story Ever Told’ later that year. Several more albums followed into the 1990s, with many supporting singles. After signing with Virgin Records they pivoted to a more rock sound, a predictable move for late 80s bands. They were also playing in an alternative band called Bleeding Hearts. In 2019, Balaam released a new studio album, ‘That’s Not The Real Workd’, and are currently active.
